  Long ago, and oh so far away, a squeaky-clean brother-sister duo covered a song that in 1971, became one of their biggest hits. From the album “Carpenters” came Karen Carpenter’s poignant version of “Superstar.” The Carpenters were the #1 selling American music act in the 1970’s, a run that carried both the bitter and the sweet.
